A fascinating feature appeared in the Economist this week on Smart Systems.  These systems are combinations of sensor and control circuits that sense and react to the real world. By automatically sensing and reacting to events real world processes can be carried out more efficiently with resultant performance and time savings.

This might mean that the elderly can live more safely at home or livestock are fed more sympathetically. In the building sector systems can monitor temperatures, gas levels or building movement and respond more quickly. In most industries it is hard not to find applications.

MotionTouch have been working in this area for the last few years. In almost every industry there are benefits for developing smart systems. In these more austere times smart systems can mean costs savings and leaner operations. Our clients see massive opportunity in developing products that use their knowledge and skills to bring efficiencies to their customer base.

The technology used to deliver the benefits is for the most part very established. The costs for product development and manufacture can be surprisingly low. Once the product is in development there is the attractive option of recurring revenue cost models.
